Parallel to campus implementation of the IU Indianapolis Engagement and Impact Plan (2016-2021), schools and units across IU Indianapolis have developed and begun to implement strategic plans that meet the goals, needs, interests, and aspirations of their school/unit constituents. This process began in summer 2020, when 80 school/unit leaders, faculty, and staff attended diversity planning information sessions to learn the why, what, how, who, and when of diversity planning.
Following a year of plan development (2020-21), most schools and units have begun to implement plans in the next two years (2021-23). With guidance from the IU Indianapolis administration, school and unit leads meet regularly to support one another, ensure consistency of purpose and goals, and identify opportunities for cross-unit collaboration.
School/unit plans utilize this same overarching framework which allows at a local level for greater richness and progress in areas of engagement and impact across IU Indianapolis. The three-year cycle allows time to achieve meaningful development and implementation of strategies while not losing sight of the initial objectives and goals identified.
